We're not in the habit of being organised all the time. We just happened to be out doing something else and decided on the spur of the moment- hey, let's go downtown and try to find Mick's building! It's kinda crazy, cause there are a lot of buildings in downtown LA, and we were clueless.
Remembering that One Wilshire, which shows up in the aerial photos, was across from the FoS, we easily found it.We wandered further afield, and discovered the most architecturally gorgeous streets! I had no idea!
Mostly Art Deco, tall, wide, soaring buildings cheek by jowl, buildings with gargoyles, ornate friezes, scrolling, deco'ing, a lot of pink and terracotta, massive, so fantastic. It's another hidden gem in LA. We knew we must be close. This was all discovery, which is the most exciting thing about not knowing what you're doing.
And then we saw it. In the distance...Squeeeee!
It was a thrill! Totally. Mick has good taste :). Seeing it IRL really makes a difference to how you experience the show afterwards.
Click on the pix and imagine Lance. With gargoyles- only fitting. Now imagine MickBeth out on the balcony. Without gargoyles. Pure Deco. Imagine the music....Why did you run/Why did you run/When I’m right here...
And here's a bonus: Yep. One dark and not so stormy night, when that psycho Lee Jay Spalding, in Ep 1.02, breaks into Mick's lair and ends up calling the cops on him and Mick grabs his bags o'blood and whooshes outta there as only a vampire can....he meets up with Josef right in front of this building, where he gives him his stash and they discuss how Mick screws everything up! Such cool vamps, too, cause in that scene, they've got cool cars. No cool cars, here, alas. Just the building. And Mick and Josef DNA....
