Should They Have Sex? After The Mortal Cure Ep. 1.12

Someone on moonlightline.com wondered what Mick and Beth were thinking in that final shot of them at Josh's funeral. What their future held. Hell if I know! But then you think about what you know about the characters and the writing so far. So I replied:

I think that Mick knew his time was limited, but he was there, in the light, alive with life and hope, even if it is for a short time. Mick is so good at living in the moment, savouring life. And he was there, with Beth. He got to be totally human (and mortal), and he went directly to be with Beth. What does that tell us about his priorities and desires?

As for Beth, I think she was still living the death. Kind of a reversal of roles- Mick into life, Beth dealing with death, for a change.

All this sets up an interesting future Ep. I am just so content at the fact that there is hope and room for possibility, that even if his mortality lasted a few more hours, I'm excited by the thought that it won't go as we think might be planned. I love the fact that it all feels so authentic, realistic. That it stays within the realm of magical realism- where the ordinary becomes extraordinary- Mick's vampirism heightens and clarifies their relationship, and makes it immensely compelling, fascinating, heartrending and ecstatic. Roller coaster ride indeed!

I can't wait to see what the writers do next! Cause the one thing I am totally sure of, is that Mick and Beth, not matter what happens, are a solid duo/oneness on every level imaginable. That has been established. They just don't know it yet. And it's that revelation, to them, that I am dying to see. I like the idea that they need to see their own attraction and oneness and love unfurl to the point where they finally awaken to it all and wear their love like heaven.

Yeah it would be nice if they kissed some more or made love or whatever....but I look upon the foreplay here as a dance of ambivalence, and their gradual awakening to life and to each other as the most remarkable and fascinating aspect of this very unconventional telling of their story and romance.
